Washington State offers many terrific courses for golfers of all levels. There are also many Washington golf tournaments throughout the year. Undoubtedly, it is a unique state to golf in, with its markedly unpredictable weather. However, the weather ultimately adds to the stateís charm and draws attention from golfers.

There are a many courses worth your time and money in Washington. Here are a few notable ones:

Chambers Bay Golf Course. This course is located about an hour south of Seattle and was voted best new course in 2007 by Golf Magazine. It has scenic views of the sea and is distinctly rugged. You might even think youíre in Ireland at some point during your round.

Gold Mountain. This course is located in Bremerton, a quick ferry ride away from Seattle. Itís a great course with views of the water. Be careful though, the greens are mowed low and the ball moves fast. This course often hosts PGA tournaments.

Trophy Lake Golf and Casting Club. Located on an old Christmas-tree farm, this course is definitely an atypical charmer. It features several fishing holes on the property, so bring your rod and reel if youíre interested. The course is located in Port Orchard and is fairly easy to play, as it has large fairways and greens.

Of course, there are many other courses in Washington worth visiting, but these three offer a good introduction to any newcomer.

There are also some Washington golf tournaments worth mentioning. The Hudson Cup pits seasoned pros versus hungry amateurs. This is an exciting and unique Washington Golf Tournament. As was mentioned earlier, the Gold Mountain golf course hosts many PGA events. There are also myriad amateur tournaments that take place in many of the stateís public and private courses.

Again, the weather conditions in Washington are often quite unpredictable, so be sure to bring a change of clothes. Sudden showers occur often. However, ultimately the panoramic sea and mountain views make-up for any inconvenience the weather may cause. Washington is a beautiful place to tee-up and swing away!
