Virginia golf tournaments provide access to some of the most beautiful golf courses not only on the East Coast but in the entire United States. As a matter of fact, some of the best golfers to ever play on the PGA Tour hail from the state and they include Hall of Fame inductees Sam Snead and Curtis Strange. When it comes to Virginia golf, you can play on the flat sandy beaches of the Tidewater region right on up to the majestic mountains of the Blue Ridge. When referring to Virginia golf, you are surely talking about a treasure.

One of the largest professional golfing tournaments held in Virginia is the Michelob Open for the LPGA and is held at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg. The top lady professional golfers come here year after year and amongst some of the women professionals this golf tournament is noted as an unofficial major. This Virginia golf tournament also used to be a regular stop on the PGA Tour and may someday return to the schedule. Still there are some key amateur tournaments held in the Old Dominion state and some these are the Eastern Amateur which is usually held in the Tidewater area, The West Virginia-Virginia Team Matches, the VSGA four ball and senior four ball championships, the Cascades Invitational at the Hot Springs Resort, the Wintergreen National Amateur, and the Virginia Club Team Championships.

A Virginia golf tournament is no doubt able to bring out some of the best golfers in the country. When it comes to courses, Virginia has plenty top golf courses to brag about. Bay Creek Golf Club on the Eastern Shore has been noted as one of the top 10 public courses in the United States for the last 3 or 4 years. It is the only place where you will find both a Nicklaus and Palmer signature course at the same venue. Some other notable Virginia courses are The Federal Club in Glen Allen, Chantilly National in Centreville, Wintergreen Resort in Wintergreen, The Homestead at Hot Springs, and the Robert Jones Golf Club in Gainesville.
