Consider the great state of Oklahoma for your next golfing adventure. The rustic American plains provide the backdrop; additionally, the courses and golf tournaments in Oklahoma are loaded with character. The weather can occasionally be stormy, and when it is, be sure to take cover immediately. However, the varied, fascinating cloud formations are one of Oklahomaís best features; most of the time, they just make the day of golfing more enjoyable.

There are many courses worth your time and money in Oklahoma; here is a small sampling:

Winter Creek Course, located in Blanchard, features Bermuda grass. The course is impeccably maintained. The greens, fairways, and dunes are all extremely player-friendly. That being said, there are holes on the course that may also cause consternation. Overall, itís a great course. There are many Oklahoma golf tournaments held at Winter Creek throughout the year.

Winstar Golf Course, located in Thackerville, is another superbly-maintained course. The golf-carts have GPS navigation, so if you spend a lot of time in the woods, youíll certainly appreciate this feature. The course also has a resort facility, if youíre looking for a golf-vacation.

The Territory Golf & Country Club is another course worth visiting. Itís located in Duncan Oklahoma and provides players with an enjoyable challenge. The fairways are swift and well-maintained. This course also features many amateur tournaments for players of various age-groups.

The Trosper Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City provides an excellent value for golfers. The course is challenging in spots, but not to an extreme degree.

All of the previously mentioned golf courses offer amateur tournaments, but there are many other junior and semi-pro events that take place throughout the year in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Open offers great payouts to Amateurs and is a fantastic Oklahoma Golf Tournament. The Mid Amateur Championship is another terrific paying opportunity for amateurs.

For those golfers who still like walking courses, Oklahoma is a great place to visit, as its great plains are both flat and scenic. Ultimately though, itís a state where any golf can have a great time playing the game.
