Golf is the most popular recreation sport in the United States. Itís easy to find golf courses anywhere. But if youíre like most people, you play at the same course every weekend. The game might still be fun, but it also makes the game predictable; there are no new challenges. Many golfers enjoy traveling to different states in order to experience different types of golf. One state that has an exceptional reputation for golf is North Carolina.
North Carolina golf is superb for several reasons. The most obvious reason is the weather. With the exception of Southern California, itís impossible to find better weather than in North Carolina. The key word here is Ďmoderate.í Itís very possible to play a game of golf on Thanksgiving weekend wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The coast is a little windier, but the scenery is also sensational. You wonít find as much wind inland, but you will find variety. The middle portion of the state has a lot of flat land, whereas western North Carolina has plenty of elevated terrain. With sea, mountains, and flat land as options, you will find whatever youíre looking for.
Another advantage to playing golf in North Carolina is affordability. The fees are considerably less than the northeast or Florida. This is great whether youíre coming down for a few rounds over the course of a weekend or if you want to play in a North Carolina golf tournament. Everything is cheaper in North Carolina. However, there is one exception to this rule, which is in the Outer Banks area. Just as the homes are much more expensive here, so is this golf. But paying the extra prices for this experience is highly recommended. Think of golf in this area as the east coast version of Pebble Beach. And if you want amazing scenery for very low prices, go straight to Asheville or Cherokee. These areas donít just offer the most scenic golf on the east coast, but several North Carolina golf tournaments every year.
As crazy as it may sound, thousands of people have moved to North Carolina just because of the golf. That should tell you something.
