Golf has a very rich tradition in the great state of New Jersey. The Garden State has been the host of PGA and LPGA Tournaments as well as also hosting a wide variety of amateur tournaments all throughout the state. New Jersey has some of the most beautiful golf courses in the entire United States. Some of the best courses in the state of New Jersey include Pine Valley Golf Club, Eagle Ridge Golf Club - Lakewood, Liberty National of Jersey City, Pine Hill Golf Club, The Pine Barrens Golf Club, Jackson, and High Point Golf Club in Montauge. The good thing about golf in the state is no matter if you are in the city, visiting rural areas of South Jersey, or on the majestic Jersey Shore, there is always a high quality golf course nearby.
New Jersey also plays hosts to some of the top amateur golf tournaments in the nation. Some these New Jersey golf tournaments include the Women's Eastern Amateur Championships, the New Jersey Mid Amateur Championships, the New Jersey Open, the Baltursol Invitational in Springfield, the Crump Cup at Pine Valley Golf Club, and the USGA Men's State Championships. Some of the top amateur's in the United States compete year in and year out in these New Jersey golf events.
As far as the PGA Tour goes, the Barclays has been held in New Jersey as recently as 2010 where it was played at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus and was won by Matt Kuchar. The 2011 Sybase Match Play Championships of the LPGA will be held in New Jersey after a short hiatus. New Jersey is an overall excellent state when it comes to the game of golf.
