The state of Missouri offers an abundance of incredible golfing, including opportunities to play in a Missouri golf tournament. The climate allows golfers to be on the course for over half of the year. Missouri offers several different tournaments throughout the year with different competition levels. Golf courses in Missouri can range from small beginner courses to very challenging courses.

The climate in Missouri changes from hot in the summer to very cold in the winter. The temperature in summer can reach well over 100 degrees, with heat indexes in excess of 110 degrees. During these heat waves, golfers should refrain from hitting the links, as dehydration can set in very quickly in these conditions. The temperature in the winter can fall below zero degrees, with wind chills below -10 degrees. Golfing is pretty much out of the question during this season. Precipitation can range from rain to snow depending on the season and the temperature. The prime golfing season is from the beginning of April through the end of October. One of the best parts of golfing in Missouri is the gorgeous scenery. The colors of the blossoming flowers and trees in the spring can be enchanting, while the changing colors of falling leaves in august are breath taking.

Missouri golf tournaments have an extensive range of competition. Amateur events are held for youth golfers and adults alike. Amateur events usually offer small prizes like golfing equipment and supplies. Mid-amateur tournaments provide competition for golfers not considered professional, but still wish to win prize money. These tournaments still offer prizes of golf equipment and supplies for those who don't finish in a position to win money. Missouri hosts a few professional golf tournaments including the Missouri Open.

Missouri has some of the best golfing in the country. The climate and the changing colors of the seasons provide phenomenal golfing experiences. Located in the center of the United States, Missouri is convenient for everyone. A golfing trip to Missouri is well worth the time and the money.
