Although there are no professional Michigan golf tournaments right now there are some amateur tournaments in the state of Michigan. One of the more popular ones is held at Crystal Mountain Golf and Ski Resort in northern Michigan. This site was the home to Golf Association of Michigan women’s senior tour. This was a very positive addition to the Michigan Golf Tournament stops.
The best part of golf in Michigan is the vast number of courses to be played. Golf digest rated six Michigan courses in their top 100 list. These courses not only offered tough, well kept fairways and greens but also some of the most spectacular views in the state. Number 25 on the list was a course called Tullymore Golf Club in Stanwood Michigan. This course was rated one of the best upscale courses. Number 21 on the list was Arcadia Bluffs in northern Michigan. This course offers a challenge even for the experienced golfer and it overlooks Lake Michigan and Arcadia Lake. It sits high atop some bluffs with several feet high sand dunes in the distance. This particular course is top-notch in beauty.
Michigan offers some great courses designed by professional golfers like Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. Many of these courses can be very economical as well. You don't necessarily have to drop $200.00 every time you want to play a great round of golf. There are often twilight specials offered and superb end of the season specials. The most unique features of Michigan golf is the scenery. There are breathtaking views from many courses in the state with panoramic Lake Michigan views, sand dune views or spectacular wooded views. Michigan is a great place for a golf retreat.
