When it comes to golfing and the state of Maryland, you are talking about one of the most unique places in the entire United States to be able to play. Maryland is a unique state because of it being split by the Chesapeake Bay. What this means is that the Eastern Shore of Maryland has some of the best golf courses on the Atlantic Coast. Ocean City is vastly becoming a rival to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina as far as beach golfing destinations go. The mainland of Maryland too has some high quality courses.
When it comes to courses on the Eastern Shore, the best ones are located near the coast around the Ocean City area. The best thing about most of these are they are also golfing resorts so you will get fine dining, lodging, and golfing all at one place. Some of the best courses around here are Eagles Landing, Nassawango Country Club, Nutters Crossing, Rum Pointe, and War Admiral. Most of these courses are in short proximity of each other and is the closest thing to Myrtle Beach that you are going to get.
The most popular course in the entire state of Maryland is the Congressional Country Club just outside of Washington, DC in Bethesda. Tiger Woods hosts his annual AT&T National here. The Nationwide Tour and the LPGA have also hosted Maryland golf tournaments here. There are also other nice courses in and around Baltimore and Annapolis and Frederick. Some of the top PGA professionals are also in Maryland have done very well in the Public Links championships and the National Club Championships of the USGA and PGA.
