The state of Maine has become one of the most popular locations for golf tournaments. The Maine golf season generally runs from May to October without a break in between. The weather during the summer and autumn months has been described as breathtaking with light wind and sunny skies. In May, The Maine Golf Team Championship was played at the Belgrade Lakes Golf Club in Belgrade, Maine. One month later the Womens Tri-State Championship took place at the Waterville Country Club. In July, the Maine Amateur Championship occurred at the breathtaking Kebo Valley Golf Club, which is discussed in more detail below. In Manchester Maine at the Augusta Country Club, the state match play championship ensued. Other tournaments include the Maine Senior Amateur Championship, the Two-Man Team Championship, and the Mid-Amateur played at the Old Marsh Country Club in Wells. Any Maine Golf Tournament is an unforgettable experience for all who compete. With its natural beauty and awe inspiring wonders, the state offers some unique golfing challenges. Maine also has three of the nations top ranked public courses. Kebo Valley Golf Club in Bar Harbor, Maine is the 8th oldest club in the United States. Located near the National Arcadia Park your round could consist of some wildlife joining the group. The Ledges in York, Maine includes sweeping views of the vast New England countryside, plus a very demanding course. The fast greens and hilly fairways will definitely test the golfers short game skills. Falmouth Country Club is the most difficult of the three courses mentioned. Tall trees and many bunkers surround very narrow fairways. The track is also long at over 7,000 yards. Theres another course up the Maine coastline thats been called the Pebble Beach of the East. The Samoset Golf Clubs first nine holes are along the edges of the Atlantic Ocean, providing the golfer with some incredibly beautiful and majestic scenes. No longer a hidden giant, the state of Maine has quickly become a hotbed of stunning public golf courses and wonderful times for all.
