Georgia Golf Tournaments offer the best of all worlds, some may see Georgia as a cut through state to the original "sunshine state" Florida, however they are missing one of the best states for golf in the union. The state of Georgia has much to offer in the way of sun, fun and more importantly golf. While football may be king with Georgia Bulldogs, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Atlanta Falcons, golf is a gentleman's sport offering men a chance to gather, converse and play the "sport of kings". One never has to look far to find a Georgia golf tournament underway and of course there's always April's Granddaddy of them all, The Masters in Augusta.
So what makes golf tournaments in Georgia so popular among participants? Warm weather is the first and most obvious answer. South Georgia is much like Florida with its year round warm temperatures and mild winters. The southern part of this state features courses like Sunsweet Hills Golf Course in Tifton and Savannah Quarters Country Club each host multiple tournaments every year. What makes them special? Savannah Quarters hosts an 18-hole private course placed in a residential community with majestic woods, protected wetlands and live oaks. This makes for a private tournament with excellent amenities on a Greg Norman designed course. Sunsweet Hills was designed by Don MacMillian as a regulated course and has rolling hills and some elevated greens.
But none of the tournaments or courses can compare to the Georgia golf tournament issuing the famous green jacket to winners, The Masters. Located in the middle of the state on the Georgia/South Carolina line, Augusta hosts this famous event each year. The city it's self has a tropical feel with palm trees lining itís down town area. As one of the major professional tournaments in the US, it is unique because it is the only tournament held in the same location each and every year. Built by legendary golfer Bobby Jones, the area was deemed "perfect!" by the master golfer himself.
If the opportunity every presents it's self to you to golf in Georgia, by all means take up the offer. The weather, quality courses and enthusiasm for the sport will draw you in and win you over each and every time.
